Garage Organizing: A Great Business

“Its time to clean out the garage!”

That’s a dreaded statement for many people facing the realities of a cluttered garage.  But you can turn that “dreaded statement” into a regular income if you seize the opportunity.  Anytime someone faces a problem or an undesirable activity (such as cleaning a messy garage) then there’s a business idea.

In fact, the garage cleaning/organizing business is actually an excellent opportunity that requires very little know-how or experience.  Today, I want to analyze how one might launch a garage cleaning business and grow it to about $5,000 per month.   Is it possible?  Let’s go through some of the steps for analyzing a business (see: 7 Steps to Analyzing a New Business Idea).

How to Turn Your Metal Junk into Cash

I’m not just talking about homeless people collecting pop cans here.  I am talking about a full blown system for finding and recycling metal for profit.  Can it be done?  Well, take a look at your yellow pages some time and you will be surprised how many companies make a full-time profit out of recycling old junk!

But unfortunately for golfers, and luckily for the golf ball treasure hunter, this happens MILLIONS of times every year!  There is “white gold” sitting at the bottom of your local golf course just waiting to mined by you.

How to Make Money doing Garage Sales as a Business!

Okay, so everyone knows that you can make a little extra cash selling your old junk at garage sales.  But I would like to discuss (or debate) whether or not you think a person could make a good part-time (or maybe even full-time) income doing just garage sales!

I am going to put myself out there and say…YES!  I think that someone who is serious about it, could make an extra $2,000 a month, each and every month.  If you think I’m crazy, let me know.

Here are my reasons.  First of all, people (some people) love garage sales.  Its the thrill of the hunt, its something to do on Saturday, and where else are you going to find old Atari games?  If you have done your own garage sale, I think its safe to say that you can make $500 - $1,000 per garage sale.
